1. On issues linked to oil
Research Project lead by Prof. Khalil Alio on “The Main Actors of the Oil Project in Chad”.

PhD Project on “Chadian Oil Exploitation: a New Model for Conflict Management", lead by Laguerre Dionro Djérandi under the supervision of Prof. Mirjam de Bruijn, Prof. Han van Dijk (Center for African Studies, Leiden-Netherlands) and Dr Andrea Behrends (Institute for Social Anthropology of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg). The project is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. This project is part of research project Traveling Models in Conflict Management, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.

PhD Project led by Hoinathy Remadji on “The Impact of Oil on the Ways and Lives of People in the Oil Zone”, under the supervision of Prof. Günther Schlee (Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology (MPI) in Halle / Saale-Germany) and Prof. Richard Rottenberg (Institute of Social Anthropology of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The project is funded by the MPI.

Research project of Dr Andrea Behrends on “The Links of Oil with the Border Conflict between Chad and Sudan".

2. on the social implications of new technologies
PhD project by Djimet Seli on "Impact of Mobile Telephony on Social Relations" supervised by Prof. Mirjam de Bruijn of the Center for African Studies in Leiden. The project is funded by the Dutch agency WOTRO.



Past Projects
‘Sources of violence, conflict mediation and reconciliation: a socio-anthropological study on Dar Sila’ (eastern Chad). This research was conducted from January to July 2008. It was funded by the European Commission Delegation in Chad. Research for this report was conducted by Christine Pawlitzky and Babett Jánszky, supervised by Andrea Behrends and Stephen Reyna.
